in college i had listened to records of Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy. then i went to a PSO concert while working in Philadelphia. at 81, Ormandy was old but graceful and totally focused. i felt a bit excited and emotional. it's a memorable evening, some 25 years ago.
